Description

Overview of our work

We developed and delivered an Active Bystander Programme for colleagues within NHS England and Improvement between April 2022 – October 2022.

The key objectives of our Active Bystander programme were to help participants understand the importance of inclusion, and equip them with the knowledge and tools to be able to be effective active bystanders. In total, we facilitated 20 workshops which lasted 2.5 hours each, and up to 20 participants attended each workshop.

We also wanted to provide participants with insight into their own inclusivity, and we did this by offering them feedback using our digital solution PK:INDYNAMICS TEAMS prior to attending an Active Bystander workshop.

The outcome

  • 100% of respondents indicated that the programme helped them learn new insights or reinforced their knowledge of factors that contribute to inclusion.
  • 100% of respondents indicated that the programme enhanced or reinforced their understanding of the difference between inclusive and exclusive behaviour.
  • 98% of respondents felt the programme helped them to learn new insights or reinforced their understanding of the importance of being an active bystander.
